There are nine symptoms of breast cancer, and any patient presenting with one or more, should be referred to a breast clinic.

Criteria for high suspicion of breast cancer and how to refer for it.

Young women, pregnant women, and men may have specific requirements or treatment pathways that differ from the general populations.

Advanced breast cancer (ABC), also known as metastatic, secondary or stage 4 breast cancer

There are a number of benign breast conditions that can be detected through physical or visual symptoms, or found during breast screening. 

      Breast density by itself is associated with a moderate risk of breast cancer. Women with high breast density should consider having annual mammograms

      Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has developed a risk calculator to determine the risk of a woman developing breast cancer in the next five years.

      Patients at higher risk of breast cancer due to family history can be referred to Genetic Health Services NZ
